A Safe Space for Worship

Being new to a Church, or new to faith, can sometimes seem a little overwhelming. Taking those first steps to letting Jesus into your life may not always be easy. For some, it can be very difficult; however, once you have opened your heart and mind, you will see God in everything around you and you will be forever thankful for it.

Why go to Church?

We are what the bible calls “The Family of God.” Church is a place you go not as an individual, but as a collective group of devoted followers. Church is a place that you go to become a higher version of yourself, to live a life that is Godlier and greater than what you have been living, and to sync your life up with Jesus and his purpose.

  • Church attendance is not just a “good suggestion”; it is God’s will for believers. (Hebrews 10:25
  • Church is the place where believers can love one another (1 John 4:12), encourage one another (Hebrews 3:13), “spur” one another to love and good works (Hebrews 10:24), serve one another (Galatians 5:13), instruct one another (Romans 15:14), honor one another (Romans 12:10), and be kind and compassionate to one another (Ephesians 4:32).
  • When a person trusts Jesus Christ for salvation, he or she is made a member of the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:27). For a church body to function properly, all of its “body parts” need to be present and working (1 Corinthians 12:14–20).
  • It’s not enough to just attend a church; we should be involved in some type of ministry to others, using the spiritual gifts God has given us (Ephesians 4:11–13). A believer will never reach full spiritual maturity without having that outlet for his gifts, and we all need the assistance and encouragement of other believers (1 Corinthians 12:21–26).

For these reasons and more, church attendance, participation, and fellowship should be regular aspects of a believer’s life. Weekly church attendance is in no sense “required” for believers, but someone who belongs to Christ should have a desire to worship God, receive His Word, and fellowship with other believers.

How do I become a Christian?

We look to the Bible for guidance on all issues. We believe that God's Word is very clear concerning what a person should do to become a follower of Jesus.

How Do I Become a Member of New Beginnings Christian Church?

Any baptized Christian is welcome to become a member of the New Beginnings. We welcome all individuals who are ready to let Jesus into their life.

Once I become a Christian, what's next?

Living a Christian life, involves many things:

  • a person being baptized

What is Baptism and why should I be Baptized?

It is the full immersion of one’s self in holy water to show dedication to God and that they are a disciple of Jesus. The immersion under water represents the ending of one’s former life course, while being raised from the water represents one being made alive to do God’s will.

Christian baptism represents “the request made to God for a good conscience.” (1 Peter 3:21) It symbolizes that an individual has wholly dedicated himself to God to serve Him as a disciple of Jesus.

Your dedication and baptism are the beginning of a very close friendship with God, an intimate relationship with him. Baptism is not an outward cleaning but saves us through an inward cleaning. It is an appeal to God for a good conscience and asks God to take away the guilt of our past sin (that Christ paid for, wiping our “inner slate” clean).

What is Communion and why is it important?

Unlike Baptism, which is a one time event, Communion is a practice that is meant to be observed over and over throughout the life of a Christian. It is a holy time of worship when we corporately come together as one body to remember and celebrate what Christ did for us.

We observe Communion because the Lord told us to. We are to obey His commands:

And when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 1 Corinthians 11:24 (NRSV)

  • In observing Communion, we are remembering Christ and all that He has done for us in his life, death and resurrection:
  • When observing Communion, we take time to examine ourselves:
  • In observing Communion, we are proclaiming His death until He comes. It is, then, a statement of faith:

What is prayer & How do I pray?

Prayer, simply put, is conversation with God. Keeping that in mind, shouldn’t we be doing it in a way that pleases Him? Not to get us on a good list so that He’ll do what we ask, but to really understand how to talk with Him, and share our concerns, fears, and pleas.

The Bible says a lot about prayer, including Jesus’ words on how to pray (The Lord’s Prayer - Matthew 6:9-13). God wants to hear sincerity in our prayer, not vanity.

Bottom line: God is concerned with the heart of a person. So next time you go to God in prayer, ask yourself, am I humble or proud? Either way, it’s a chance to get right with Him.

Why should I be a part of a small group or Bible Study?

The Bible (Acts 5:42; 20:20) tells us we need to be in relationships for our personal and spiritual growth. We needed to be connected to one another, we needed a way and place to do as Christ taught.

Because, it is God's plan for you to be in quality relationships and we all need a place to belong and work through the issues of life. We need to be loved and give our love. Small groups give us the chance to develop personal relationships as well as to learn to be a more mature Christian.

We have a variety of small groups that meet throughout the week as well as traditional Bible Study on Sunday morning before our worship service.
